Burton is a major southeastern thriving suburb of the greater Flint area in Genesee County. Burton is primarily a residential community with several shopping plazas. It also offers two 18-hole golf courses, a year-round indoor ice skating area and tow parks. Kelly Lake Park, which is a 40 acre facility with a lake, bike path, nature trails and picnic pavillions. For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, which is a 380 acre complex featuring the DeWaters Education Center and the Corydon E. Foot Bird Collection which is a popular field trip site to many schools.
